Description
Nowadays, the principles of accessibility and barrier-free planning are of special importance, and laws requiring equal access to public services are being passed one after the other in Hungary and internationally. This book presents the modern possibilities of infocommunication accessibility. It contains all the basic knowledge that can help us make our environment comfortable for everyone to use (and comply with the law). The book reviews the development of accessibility in IT and communication tools, the solutions currently available and the possibilities for the future. Based on the special needs of the sensory, intellectual and mobility impaired, it makes proposals for the design and transformation of the PC and mobile work environment by customizing or replacing the input and output information channels that cause the problem. Developers of accessible websites and applications can also find design principles and specific information to help their work. In the second half of the book, we also show how IT systems can become a tool for making everyday life accessible. Interesting topics include reading books on a computer or mobile device, the possibilities of online administration, shopping, education, video telephony and the recently launched video interpreter service in Hungary, as well as the accessibility of community sites with the help of local information services. Finally, one of the most fashionable innovations of our time, the smart home system. About the author Gabriella Nagy graduated from the János Neumann Faculty of Informatics of the University of Óbuda with a bachelor's and then a master's degree in computer science and works there as a lecturer. He completes his doctoral studies at the Doctoral School of Applied Informatics of the University. Her primary area of research is high-reliability speech control in smart home systems, as well as mobile application development and the discovery and exploitation of assistive capabilities in radio frequency object identification and local information systems. During his college studies, he began to develop infocommunication accessibility solutions and completed both of his dissertations on such a topic. He has been regularly involved in accessibility projects ever since. As an instructor, there is a strong emphasis on expanding the accessibility knowledge of engineering IT students, and the knowledge material in this book is included in the curriculum of the appropriate courses, updated year by year and supplemented with novelties.
